Nanocoatings find their applications across various industry verticals such as medical and healthcare, food and packaging, electronics, automotive, aerospace, buildings, and constructions. The market is expected to grow at a rapid rate owing to the increased demand in these industries for nanocoatings.  According to the market Intelligence report by BIS Research titled, ‘Global Nanocoatings Market- Analysis and Forecast (2017-2026), in the past few years there has been an increased adoption of nanocoatings by the end-user industries, over the conventional paints and coatings. With the rise in the research and development activities, it is expected that it will further lead the market towards growth which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 23% and 24.5% in terms of value and volume respectively, during the forecast period. Further, there are endless applications of nanocoatings and with proper R&D activities, it will be an integral part of the market in the forthcoming period.

In March 2018, Sterling Crane, one of the world’s leading crane rental company announced in a press release that it is choosing nanocoatings over the conventional paints for its cranes to improve corrosion resistance, surface hardness, chemical and UV resistance for its painted steel assets. In February 2018, Tesla Nanocoatings developed primers, or corrosion-resistant coatings, for steel structures such as ships, bridges and oil and gas platforms. The company is using nanotechnology which provides various advantages such as the product is lighter and stronger, long-lasting, cleaner and less expensive as compared to the existing paint products. The company is strengthening mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties of its existing primers or coatings through this technology.1

In February 2018, Nano-Care Deutschland AG, a producer of ready to use chemical coatings and precursors, released the latest addition to its Intelligent Hybrids’ range of finishes and durable water repellents for outdoor apparel, military gear and industrial clothing’s. The new coating has achieved ISO certification for oil repellency and hydrocarbon resistance and is suitable for a range of materials including polyamide, polyester, cotton, viscose, and wool.2

Bio-Gate AG, Buhler AG, Nano gate AG, and Tesla nanocoating, among others, are some of the leading companies in the nanocoatings market. These market players are adopting various strategies to expand their business as well as consumer base on the global scale. Nanocoatings provide several environmental advantages over the existing coatings due to the presence of low VOCs in it.
