As the Paris Olympics come to an end, there are exciting plans to employ electric air taxis to transport visitors during the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
The proposed network will feature strategically located take-off and landing sites across key areas in Los Angeles, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Orange County, Santa Monica, Hollywood Burbank, Long Beach, and Van Nuys. Archer is also partnering with local entities to enhance the network’s efficiency. Notably, the company is in talks with the Los Angeles Rams to develop exclusive vertiports at Woodland Hills and Hollywood Park, which houses the expansive SoFi Stadium.

Additionally, Archer is working with the University of Southern California (USC) to integrate the university’s existing heliports into the network. Over the next two years, Archer and USC will collaborate on adapting these facilities to accommodate Archer's Midnight aircraft and other vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicles.
A cornerstone of Archer’s initiative is the Midnight aircraft, a piloted, four-passenger electric vehicle designed for sustainability, low noise, and safety. As EV sales are increasing globally, the Midnight aims to cut hour-long ground commutes to just 10 to 20 minutes of flight time. With speeds up to 150 mph, it will offer rapid urban transportation and is built for frequent short flights with minimal recharge time.
According to BIS Research, the global electric VTOL (eVTOL) aircraft market is projected to soar from $27.5 million in 2023 to $700.5 million by 2032, growing at 38.2% annually. This surge is fueled by the rise of smart cities and the demand for sustainable transportation.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has praised Archer’s initiative, stating, "California is showing the world what's possible when you embrace innovation, entrepreneurship, and clean energy. Los Angeles Rams President Kevin Demoff has also expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with Archer, emphasizing the project's potential to enhance the guest experience at Hollywood Park and SoFi Stadium.
