Yuan believes that AI will soon be able to handle up to 90% of our current work, such as attending meetings, making phone calls, and replying to emails. By leveraging AI and Zoom Workplace, Yuan aims to fully automate these tasks, freeing up valuable time for people.
"Let's assume, fast-forward five or six years, that AI is ready. AI probably can help for maybe 90% of the work," Yuan said. "You do not need to spend so much time [in meetings]. You do not have to have five or six Zoom calls every day. You can leverage the AI to do that."
At the heart of Yuan's vision is the concept of "digital twins," AI-powered avatars that can represent us in various situations. These digital twins can make business decisions, respond to emails, and even attend meetings on our behalf.
"I can send a digital version of myself to join so I can go to the beach," Yuan said, adding that these avatars would also be able to respond to most emails and take phone calls.

Yuan believes that with the help of AI and digital twins, people will only need to attend 10% of the meetings they do today. This shift will allow people to work only three to four days a week, allowing them more time for personal pursuits, family, and creative endeavours.
"Today, we cannot do that because every day is busy, five days a week. It's boring," Yuan said. "You and I can have more time to have more in-person interactions, but maybe not for work. Why not spend more time with your family? Why not focus on more creative things, giving back your time, giving back to the community and society to help others, right?"
Yuan envisions digital twins becoming increasingly sophisticated, starting as voice assistants and evolving into more immersive experiences like Apple's Vision Pro and Meta's Quest 3. He believes that these digital twins will eventually be able to capture people so well that it will be difficult to distinguish them from real people.
However, Yuan stressed that Zoom's digital twin technology is still some time away from becoming a reality, as AI is not yet advanced enough to implement this vision fully. Nevertheless, Yuan's ambitious plans offer a glimpse into a future where technology could significantly reduce our time on work tasks, allowing us to focus on more meaningful and fulfilling pursuits.
