In the process of advancing 6G technology, on September 6, 2023, Resonac Corporation, a Japanese chemical manufacturer, and Matmerize, a software development company based in America, forged a strategic partnership.
The 6G market is still in its early stages of development or conceptualization, with several players, such as Reliance, Nippon, and Nokia, involved in the market. The increasing applications for 6G have led to the surging demand for the development of various materials such as plastics and resins, semiconductor materials, ceramics, and composites.
As a response to this surging demand, Resonac entered the partnership to leverage Matmerize's PolymRize artificial intelligence (AI) software to speed up the development of advanced materials for 6G technology. Earlier in January 2023, Resonac Corporation revealed its plans to create new semiconductor materials for 6G.
With 6G promising speeds 100 times faster than 5G, Resonac recognized the need for materials that can handle this rapid data transmission. In collaboration with Matmerize, Resonac would use computational and AI techniques to identify the ideal materials, a process that would take months through traditional methods but only a day with Matmerize's PolymRize AI software.
PolymRize relies on Matmerize's proprietary data to construct predictive models that rapidly estimate the properties of new polymers, composites, and formulations. The software uses automated design tools to suggest suitable candidates, reducing time and costs significantly. It also streamlines data management and proves to be invaluable to chemists and engineers.
Furthermore, Resonac conducted a pilot initiative to assess Matmerize's capabilities within the context of 6G technology. This assessment involved building predictive models using Matmerize's PolymRize technology alongside third-party software.
The aforementioned models were designed to predict essential material properties relevant to 6G technology, such as bandgap, dielectric constant, refractive index, glass transition temperature, and linear expansion coefficient.
Moreover, the findings suggested that PolymRize consistently outperformed other third-party models in terms of speed and accuracy.
The growth of the 6G market is expected to be further propelled by government regulatory initiatives and investments from the private sector. However, the rising risks associated with data security and privacy threats could potentially hinder the market's growth.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that 6G technology will be introduced in some parts of developed countries by 2028, with significant expansion expected across all regions starting from 2030 onward.
